Rosa Friend author and illustrator of Rusty the Dusky Dolphin was at the launch. Rosa hails from Nelson but is currently working in Melbourne as a designer and freelance illustrator.
"Rusty" her first picture book, is informed by New Zealand’s biodiversity and beauty and is designed to inspire pride in New Zealand’s unique environment.
Rosa graduated with first class honours in Visual Communication Design from Massey University in Wellington, before travelling through Europe and Asia and involving herself in a variety of art projects along the way.
As well as a general picture book and story, this book is also perfect for use as a Social Studies, Science or English resource (suitable for NZ Curriculum Levels 3 upwards). You will be able to explore Conservation and Marine Reserves as teaching and learning themes, using the content of this book as your starting point.
